The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is an international nonprofit environmental organization with more than 3 million members and online supporters. Since 1970, our lawyers, scientists, and other environmental specialists have worked to protect the world's natural resources, public health, and the environment. For over two decades, the NRDC has worked in China as a thought leader and trusted adviser to our partners. With a highly effective team of more than 40 members based in our Beijing office, we have worked hard at both the national and local levels to recommend, develop, and support the implementation of innovative laws, policies, technologies, and market tools that curb pollution and accelerate China’s transition to a clean, low-carbon economy. NRDC's Beijing Representative Office is registered under the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau and supervised by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China in accordance with applicable laws.
Position Summary
NRDC is seeking a Part-time Consultant to work with the Communications team in our Beijing office.
The Consultant will work with the China Communications team to provide effective communications support to the Beijing office. The Consultant will be reporting to the China Communications Director. The initial term will be 6 months.
Responsibilities
General Communications Support
Preparation and on-site support of events
WeChat article formatting
Website content updating
Content editing, including but not limited to blogs and WeChat articles
Other Communications support, including but not limited to relevant research and translation assignments
Administration
Database update and maintenance, including but not limited to media contact and news clippings
Additional tasks and responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
Required
Commitment to NRDC’s mission and values
Bachelor’s degree
Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Proactive work style, detail-oriented, accountable, and with excellent organizational skills
Preferred
Strong writing skills with ability to write and edit persuasively, particularly in Chinese
Strong knowledge and understanding of both traditional media and social media
Demonstrated interest in and good knowledge of main environmental issues
