Kai Duan

Senior Project Manager, Energy Transition Project, NRDC China

Kai Duan works to advance low-carbon transition in China’s major energy-producing provinces. He leads the design and implementation of research projects to facilitate industrial transition from coal to low-carbon energy in Inner Mongolia. He also serves as the research lead on synergizing air pollution control and carbon reduction and dispersed coal reduction. Prior to NRDC, Kai worked as a senior environmental expert in environment and sustainability departments of KPMG China and RINA Group. Previously he also worked in a national environmental research think tank. He has over 15 years of experience in environment and sustainability planning, environmental and social impact assessment, ESG advisory, and industrial pollution prevention and control. He holds a master’s degrees in environmental science from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
