This report covers three main experiences through the implementation of environmental transparency mechanisms in local governments in China. These topics include the gathering of environmental data in these regions, the effects and difficulties in implementing information transparency, and an analysis of the results from implementing information transparency mechanisms. This report was co-authored by China University of Political Science’s Institute of Environmental Resources Law Task Force, the Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE), and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).
