In September, 2016, NRDC successfully organized a study tour for leading researchers on policies for controlling shipping and port air emissions in cooperation with the Royal Danish Embassy in Beijing. In Denmark and the Netherlands, the Chinese delegates learned about the Emission Control Area (ECA) enforcement practices and environmental benefits, as well as information on the latest technologies developed for controlling air pollution from the goods movement system and programs for improving the efficiency of the shipping sector in Europe. The tour offered timely information to help China develop a comprehensive enforcement program, and paved the way for future cooperation with leading authorities and companies in Europe.
