China Belt and Road Green Development Platform Holds Workshop on Greening Chinese Overseas Power and Heavy Industry Investments

China Belt and Road Green Development Platform hosted a one-day Belt and Road Green Electricity and High Energy-Consuming Industry Cooperation Workshop on August 23rd, inviting industry experts to provide guidance on greening Belt and Road investments. The platform was launched a year ago by NRDC and other leading international and Chinese NGOs and research organizations to promote low carbon and sustainable development for BRI. At the event, Ma Jun, People's Bank of China Chief Economist and Director of the Green Finance Committee, and Zhang Xiaohua, Director of the UN Southern Climate Partnership Incubator, and other research partners and experts shared recommendations with more than 120 attendees, including representatives from companies, research institutes, NGOs and media. Dr. Yang Fuqiang, NRDC senior advisor, emphasized the importance of setting green indexes for industry development in BRI countries to promote green finance and green investment. The workshop was covered by CWTV, China Youth Online, China Economic Herald, Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection and other media outlets.
