On September 22, 2015, NRDC launched the Power Sector Roundtable with its inaugural workshop, "The Future of China's Power Sector: Towards a Sustainable Development Path" in Beijing. The Roundtable is the first open and transparent platform for dialogue within a diverse group of policymakers, industry experts, enterprises, researchers and NGO representatives, all joining efforts to propel China toward a decarbonized power sector. The Roundtable successfully sparked debate and innovative thinking. Around 100 representatives from both the traditional power sector and potential new market entrants in the IT and communication industries shared their insights on the prospect of sustainable power sector reform, seeking new opportunities through smart grid and retail market competition.
