On October 22-23, NRDC co-organized the online Forum on Green Supply Chain & Climate Action with the Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs (IPE) as well as other partners. IPE released its seventh annual Green Supply Chain CITI (Corporate Information Transparency Index) Evaluation report at the forum. Representatives from multinational brands such as Dell and Apple, and local industry leaders like Huawei and Grandblue, shared innovative efforts towards greening their supply chains. More than 200 participants attended the forum online, including officials from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), which oversee China’s supply chain management and environmental protection separately. Gina McCarthy, NRDC President, delivered a speech highlighting the importance of greening supply chains to achieve carbon reduction. NRDC and IPE will continue to work together and identify best practices by Chinese and international enterprises. These practices could lead to larger-scale emissions reduction and encourage a successful green recovery. The CITI index is a quantitative evaluation system developed by IPE and NRDC to measure a company’s performance in managing the environmental impacts of factories in their supply chains in China.
