In September, NRDC and its partners launched a series of projects for Shandong provinces – one of the major coal consumers in China – to help reduce the coal consumption in support of the national “3060” target. The Shandong projects, supported by the Policy Research Center for Environment and Economy at the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Shandong Ecology Institute, and other partners, will support coal reduction in key sectors such as power, aluminum, and heating, as well as the use of market and administrative mechanisms and transition finance to support the province’s energy transition.
