On June 23, NRDC partnered with the Climate Investment and Finance Association (CIFA) and other partners to release three reports on climate finance. These reports cover, respectively, Climate-Friendly Transition Pathways of Commercial Banks, Climate-Related Information Disclosure by Financial Institutions, and Potential Investment Opportunities in Key Chinese Industries for Banks under the Carbon Neutrality Goal. NRDC and CIFA conducted these studies to provide practical guidance and recommendations to commercial banks to facilitate the establishment of an enabling environment to grow climate financing. CIFA is a key player in climate finance consisting of leading experts in Chinese government and research institutes. Experts from some of the biggest Chinese commercial banks attended the report release, including Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China, Postal Savings Bank of China, and Industrial Bank of China. The experts had an in-depth discussion on the topics of environmental information disclosure by financial institutions, risk management and green financial system development, and increasing banks’ green products.
