Nature-based Solutions (NbS) provide a series of cost-effective pathways to support climate mitigation and adaptation in agriculture sector, including cover cropping, cropland nutrient management, agroforestry and rice cultivation improvement. On August 30, NRDC hosted the second “NbS+” workshop with the theme of Employing NbS to Support Agriculture to Tackle Climate Change, jointly with China Green Carbon Foundation and IUCN. Experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences gave keynote speeches on science, progress, and practice on tackling climate change in agriculture. An NRDC expert also shared the U.S practice on regenerative agriculture and how it benefits people, biodiversity and climate. More than 50 attendees from government agencies, research institutes and NGOs joined the workshop in person, and the event also attracted over 300 online audiences. The workshop served as a bridge for knowledge sharing and experience exchange between agriculture and ecological protection.
