China is one of the world’s most importantfishing nations and one of the world’s leading seafood consuming nations. Consequently, how China’s fisheries develop ties closely to the future of the world’s fishery resources. In the United States, NRDC has successfully promoted science-based marine fisheries management, including science-based catch limits to end overfishing, rebuilding of fish stocks, strengthening the enforcement of the fishery law, and developing decision-making tools for data-limited fisheries. In recent years, NRDC has been collaborating with partners in China to support sustainable fishery management and marine conservation capacity building through information and technology transfer, policy advocacy and pilot projects.
