NRDC has led several discussions with Chinese and U.S. government agencies to collaborate on standards for wildlife forensics, the investigative practice of identifying crimes against wildlife. The 2016 U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue outcome list, released June 6, included: “Strengthen the bilateral cooperation and communication in developing wildlife identification techniques that can be successfully used in judicial proceedings,” demonstrating that the NRDC’s meetings are well-aligned with this collective mission. Moving forward, NRDC will continue facilitating wildlife forensic lab collaborations to increase synergy between the two countries.
